Supported file types

The file types Emma supports for processing using AI

Emma ingests all files that are manually uploaded or synced using an integration with a Virtual Data Room provider or with file sharing software.

Here are the file types that are fully supported by all operations in Emma:

  • PDF — .pdf

  • Images — .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .tiff, .tif

  • Word — .doc, .docx

  • PowerPoint — .ppt, .pps, .pptx, .ppsx

  • Plain text / prose — .txt, .text, .license, .licence, .lic, .log, .md, .markdown, .mdown, .mkd, .rst, .adoc, .asciidoc, .asc, .nfo, .readme, .me (plus extensionless files: LICENSE, LICENCE, README, NOTICE, COPYING, COPYRIGHT, CHANGELOG, AUTHORS, CONTRIBUTORS, INSTALL, NEWS, PATENTS)

  • Email — .eml, .msg

  • HTML — .html, .htm

  • RTF — .rtf

  • OpenDocument — .odt

The following file types are excluded from the checks but are fully supported otherwise:

  • Excel — .xls, .xlsx

  • CSV — .csv

Emma also extracts files from the following archive types:

  • .zip

  • .7z

  • .rar

  • .tar

  • .tar.gz

  • .tgz

  • .tar.bz2

  • .tar.xz

  • .gz
