Create or Connect a new Data Room

Written by Pieter Buteneers

Creating a New Data Room or Project

When you log in to Emma, you'll land on your organisation's home page. At the top, you'll find a set of options asking where you would like to start.

To create a new workspace:

  • Click "New M&A Data Room" to start an end-to-end legal due diligence workspace. This option is designed for the full transactional workflow, including document upload, analysis, and report generation.

  • Click "New Project" if you only want contract comparison and analysis. This is ideal for reviewing or analyzing specific contracts outside of full M&A due diligence.

Each option is presented as a card on the home page. Click the card to begin creating your new workspace.

After you click:

  • The system will create your workspace and take you directly into your new data room or, for Projects, into the project matrix. You will not have to search for it or navigate further.

Subscription Limits and Demo Data Rooms

If your subscription does not allow the creation of a new data room or project:

  • A dialog will appear to inform you that your subscription has expired or does not allow more workspaces.

  • In this dialog, you will have the option to create a demo data room instead. This lets you explore Emma without affecting your workspace limits.

What Happens After Creation?

  • After successfully creating a data room, you are taken straight into the new data room, ready to upload documents and invite collaborators.

  • After successfully creating a project, you go directly to the project matrix to begin contract analysis.

You can always navigate back to your organisation home page to start more workspaces or see recent ones. The home page also lists your most recent data rooms and projects in separate sections for quick access.
