The HighQ connector lets you sync documents from a Thomson Reuters HighQ site directly into an Emma data room. The integration uses OAuth, so once connected Emma can list the sites and folders you have access to and pull in the documents you select — no manual download or upload required.
The connector is currently in limited release. Before you can use it, you need to:
Request access from Emma support.
Create an API client in your HighQ tenant to obtain a Client ID and Client Secret.
Configure the connection in Emma using those credentials.
Step 1 — Request access from Emma support
The HighQ integration is rolled out on request. Contact [email protected] or reach out through the chat bubble in the bottom right of the Emma platform and ask to have HighQ enabled for your organization. Once enabled, the HighQ provider will appear in the data room connection picker.
Step 2 — Create an API client in HighQ
Emma connects to HighQ using OAuth, so you need an API client registered inside your own HighQ tenant. This is something your HighQ administrator does once per tenant — the same Client ID and Client Secret can then be reused for every data room you want to connect.
Log in to your HighQ instance as an administrator.
Navigate to the API management area of HighQ and create a new API client (sometimes called an OAuth client or integration client).
Configure the client with the permissions Emma needs to read sites, folders, and documents. Your HighQ administrator can refer to the HighQ API documentation for the exact scopes.
Save the client and copy the generated Client ID and Client Secret — you will paste these into Emma in the next step. The Client Secret is only shown once, so store it somewhere safe.
Make a note of your Instance URL. This is the base URL of your HighQ tenant, for example
https://your-tenant.highq.com/your-tenant.
The user that authorizes the connection must have access to every HighQ site you want to sync. Emma can only see sites and folders that user is permitted to access in HighQ.
Step 3 — Configure the connection in Emma
Once access has been enabled and you have your HighQ credentials, you can connect HighQ to an Emma data room:
In Emma, open the data room (or create a new one) and click Connect next to the HighQ provider.
The Configure HighQ connection dialog opens. Fill in:
Instance URL — the base URL of your HighQ tenant, e.g.
https://your-tenant.highq.com/your-tenant.Client ID — the Client ID from your HighQ API client (Step 2).
Client secret — the Client Secret from your HighQ API client (Step 2).
Click Save & authorize. You will be redirected to HighQ to log in and approve the connection.
After approval, Emma asks you to select a HighQ site — pick the site that contains the documents you want to analyze.
Finally, select the folders and documents you want to sync into the Emma data room. You can sync entire folder trees or specific files. New documents added later in HighQ will sync automatically.
Emma will start importing the selected content. Once the import completes, the documents appear in your data room and are analyzed by Emma like any other source.
FAQ
Q1: Do I need administrator rights in HighQ to use the connection?
A1: You only need administrator rights to create the API client in Step 2. Once the Client ID and Client Secret exist, any user with access to the relevant HighQ sites can use them to connect Emma.
Q2: Can I connect more than one HighQ site to Emma?
A2: Yes. Each Emma data room is connected to one HighQ site, but you can use the same API client (Client ID/Secret) across multiple data rooms in your organization.
Q3: What happens if my HighQ credentials expire or are rotated?
A3: If the Client ID or Client Secret changes in HighQ, the connection will stop syncing. Open the data room integration settings in Emma and reconnect HighQ with the new credentials.
