The Documents page has two views — IRL and Folder — switchable with the toggle at the top of the page. This article covers the Folder view. For the IRL view, see The IRL view.
What is the Folder view?
The Folder view lets you browse all files in your data room exactly as they are organised in the source (your VDR or cloud storage). Unlike the IRL view — which groups documents by document type — the Folder view shows the raw folder and file structure, making it easy to find a specific file by its original location.
The Folder view is also the primary documents view for Projects (as opposed to M&A data rooms), where there is no IRL.
Navigating folders
The left sidebar shows all connected sources and their folder trees. Click any folder to see its files in the main panel.
The file list
Each row in the file list shows:
File name — click to open the document viewer
Categorization badges — the document type the file has been assigned to
Jurisdiction and legal entity — if extracted
Reviewers — avatars of team members who have reviewed the file
Warnings — if the document has issues (e.g. unsure categorization, processing error)
Bundle indicator — if the file is part of a disclosure bundle
Per-file actions
Click the menu icon on a file row to:
Open the document viewer
Categorize the document — opens the categorization wizard
Mark as reviewed / unreviewed
Update jurisdiction or legal entity
Add to / remove from a disclosure bundle
Delete the file
Bulk actions
Select multiple files using the checkboxes, then use the bulk action bar that appears to:
Categorize selected files
Mark as reviewed or unreviewed
Update jurisdiction or legal entity for all selected
Delete selected files
Compare selected documents
Adding files
Use the Manage sources button in the toolbar to connect a new data room integration or manually upload files. For step-by-step instructions, see the Data Room Connections & File Upload collection.
Filtering files
Use the Filters button in the toolbar to narrow the file list by review status, duplicates, jurisdiction, legal entity, or when the file was added. See Filtering documents for details.
If you need additional help using the Folder view or encounter any other problem, don't hesitate to reach out through the chat bubble in the bottom right or contact [email protected].
